Fall Fun for Everyone
It’s time to get outside and enjoy that Michigan fall weather before it’s too late! There are so many fun fall activities for everyone to enjoy, from families and kids to adults. Here’s a few great fall activity ideas to take advantage of this month!
What’s better than fresh picked apples in the middle of October? With countless apple orchard options around the Grand Rapids area, it’s hard to pass up those ripe, fall favorite Honeycrisp apples. Wells Orchards and Moelker Orchards & Farm Market are just two of the great options. My personal favorite, Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery, offers fun for both kids and adults. Their U-pick apple weekends, hayrides, petting zoo, corn maze, and jumping pillow will keep your kids occupied all day long. Adults can take a break with their wine testing and everyone can pause the fun for their great lunch options, featuring their most popular item- donuts!

Does Halloween and October really happen if you don’t have pumpkins outside your home? Ed Dunneback & Girls Farm Market and Frugthaven Farm offer great pumpkin patches to pick out that perfect pumpkin for carving and pumpkin seeds. Ed Dunneback & Girls Farm Market offers U-pick pumpkins of course, but also U-pick strawberries, sweet cherries and apples. Frugthaven Farm also offers U-pick apples and pumpkins!

John Ball Zoo
When was the last time you went to the zoo? October 18-20 and 25-27 from 10am to 4pm, John Ball Zoo hosts the annual Zoo Goes Boo! This event is open to the public for around $10 a person, or free for Zoo members! It includes trick-or-treating for the kids, entertainment and of course animals! People are encouraged to wear their costumes, given this event is put on for families and kids, and enjoy all the treats given out! John Ball Zoo also hosts the Monster Mash on October 17th for zoo members!

Last, but certainly not least, what better way to get in the fall and Halloween mood than a haunted house? The Haunt and Moonlight Manor are two of Grand Rapids’ best haunted houses. The Haunt is open every weekend in October! The scaring begins Fridays at 6:30pm, Saturdays at 6pm, and Sundays at 7pm. Children ages 10-15 are allowed to enter the haunted house while being accompanied by an adult, 18 and older. Moonlight Manor features just one night of scaring, October 31 from 7pm-10pm. It also allows children 10 and up, so it is the perfect place to bring your children for a Halloween scare.
