Museum Expansion Project
Big changes are coming to the Averill Historical Museum in Ada! This summer, construction will begin on the museum to expand it out 2,960 square feet in order to meet the needs of the community and to preserve the history of Ada. The Ada Historical Society has been considering expanding the museum for years, and the group is finally excited to share that production will be under way!
Preserving the Future
One of the primary additions to the museum will be a new building added on to the old one. The building will take up 1,876 feet and include more space for archiving. This will be extremely useful for cataloging and preservation as well. A hallway will connect the building to the already existing museum. The building will serve as a secure location for preserving artifacts for the museum.
Engage the Community
In addition to the preservation building, another addition will be added to the museum that is meant for more community engagement. A multi-use room will be added to be used for lectures, classes, and programs for multiple organizations around Ada. Restrooms in the building will be doubled for convenience. Finally, a kitchenette will be added for events, more office space, and as a welcome desk.
The construction on the Ave
