Need Some New Year’s Resolutions?

January 2, 2020

Everyone’s motivation is always high at the start of a new year as we’re all hoping for a year better than the previous. With New Year’s Resolutions always being popular around this time, have you taken a moment to think of some New Year’s Resolutions for yourself in 2020? A resolution doesn’t have to be extreme or elaborate. In fact, they can be quite simple as long as it helps you become a better version of yourself! Below is a list of some simple, yet important resolutions that you can incorporate into your 2020 mindset for a great positive outcome in your life!

Save More Money

This is often a common resolution that can be forgotten very easily. But even choosing to skip eating out one night or that morning coffee from Starbucks could save you so much money. For example, the average Starbucks coffee costs around $3.00. If you skip purchasing that coffee once a week for all of 2020 and make coffee at home instead, that’s an extra $156.00 in your pocket at the end of the year (if not more!)

Drink More Water

Another resolution that seems so easy but is also so easy to forget. But the benefits of drinking water are truly insane! These benefits include helping to maximize your physical performance, can prevent headaches, can help with weight loss and so much more! Next time you’re stopping at a fast-food restaurant, try opting for a water instead of a soft drink (you’ll save some money too!)

Take the Stairs More than the Elevator

A common New Year’s Resolution is always to work out more. But this can be difficult or too expensive for some people to continue doing this all year long. You can attempt to incorporate more psychical activities in something simple like opting to take the stairs rather than waiting for the elevator. Although this may not be a full workout, you will still be taking small steps to add more physical activity in your lifestyle. This is also an easy and free way to keep up with a resolution!

Sanitize your Phone Weekly

Research shows that the average cell phone has 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seat. With that being said, make your New Year’s Resolution to sanitize your cell phone more often! One way to do this is by using a mixture of water and a little rubbing alcohol, and then wiping your phone with it. Doing this will help you maintain your health and help you live a healthier lifestyle.

Donate or Sell your Old Clothes

Great resolutions don’t always have to benefit you, instead they can benefit other people! Donating old clothes, clothing that no longer fits, or items that you just aren’t fond of anymore to a shelter or Goodwill can end up changing countless lives. Or do you need a little spare change? Apps such as Poshmark and Mercari allow you to sell used clothing for the price of your choice, in order to give them a new home!

Go to Bed Earlier

Everyone knows that sleep is any important part to not only your health, but your motivation, mindset and attention span. Busy days and late nights happen of course, but attempting to go to bed earlier every night as your New Year’s Resolution may allow you to be more productive during the day and could positively affect your health for the overall year.

Spend Less Time on Social Media

Obviously times have changed and social media is currently booming, but taking some time away from social media each day and investing that time in other tasks, such as catching up on laundry or cleaning out your junk drawer, could be the perfect resolution for you.

Be More Polite

You never truly know what is going on in someone else’s life or what an individual is going through on a specific day. With that being said, a great resolution can be to simply be kinder every day or especially on your difficult days. You can choose to be polite to a waiter or waitress that may have messed up your order rather than being angry.

Be More Organized

This is another common resolution that can easily be forgotten. Being more organized, such as organized your closet based on short sleeve and long sleeve shirts or having a specific spot for work items, allows you to know exactly where your items or clothing is located when you need it. This will also help you to avoid being late for activities or meetings due to a scrambled search for items that you cannot locate.

Arrive Earlier for Events

This resolution could end up making a large impact on your life in terms of first impressions or other’s views on your professionalism. By waking up 5 minutes earlier every day or setting aside your outfit for the upcoming morning, you could speed up your mornings and get ahead of schedule for the entire day. Another simple solution to help you stick to this solution is by using your iPhone to set reoccurring alarms or reminders, so you don’t lose track of time in your busy day
