Amyway co-founder and Ada native Richard DeVos passed away on September 6. Mr. DeVos' memory will forever live on through his philanthropic donations in the community. Mr. DeVos will be remembered not only as a successful business man, but as someone who cared deeply about the well being of the community.
West Michigan has been blessed by the generosity of the Rich Devos and his family, and would not be the wonderful place it is today if it were not for his efforts. The Richard and Helen DeVos foundation has done strides through the community, wither it is the founding of Helen DeVos Children's hospital, or the millions donated to further the education.
We would like to take a moment to remember the many contributions Mr. Devos made to the community and thank him for his generosity throughout the years. A motorcade carried Rich DeVos down Ada drive this past Monday, September 10 to the company he and Jay Van Andel founded in 1959. Public opportunities to honor DeVos included a public visitation from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, and a simulcast of the Celebration of Life Funeral Service at DeVos Hall on Thursday, September 13, at 2 p.m. Complete details are available at www.RichDeVos.com
